The transition to a toddler bed had been going very well...until last night. I think my alsmost two year old son thinks he is a baby again. He woke up at 10:30 and decided that he was not going back to sleep. I tried everything to get him back to sleep. Finally, I gave in and let him sleep in my bed. Big mistake. He assumed that was the go ahead to nurse and I was not going to be up alllll night nursing him. He eventually got the hint and went back to sleep...for an hour! It was like that all night until, finally at four (the usual time he wakes up to nurse), I let him nurse. It wasn't until six that I woke up and realized he was still attached to me. So, not only am I going to have a hard time getting him to sleep and stay asleep in his bed but I think weaning him might be more difficult than I anticipated.
On a happier note, I am so relieved to have finally turned in my paper. Though I think I would like to have had another week to just sit and revise. This term has just flown by and I will really miss this class.
This is a blog that I have set up as a requirement for my writing class, but I hope to also use it to open up as a writer and to write about things that I am passionate about.

Hi Jessica,
ReplyDeleteThey always know when you start to separate. It is hard, but happy. Think of it as one step toward you doing your job to preparing him for live. You are training him like a mother should. We want love them as kids but must train them to stand on their own two feet. This is the thought that helps me each time I reach a new phase of growth and maturity with my son.
Jessica, I think Dr. Pickle has a good point. I am having a hard time letting Joshua cry for a few minutes with out picking him right up. it is tough.
