This is a blog that I have set up as a requirement for my writing class, but I hope to also use it to open up as a writer and to write about things that I am passionate about.

Insurance

I love the idea of insurance. It gives me a warm feeling to think that if something goes wrong, then someone will be there to help me with my loss. Unfortunate things happen all the time and what if every aspect of life had insurance? What if I had cooking insurance? Everytime something turned out bad, I could get something else. Oh or what about rainy day insurance? Whenever I plan an outdoor event, it rains, or worse, storms. Rainyday insurance could give me a back up plan. Many people get a prenup befor getting married...but I think love insurance would be even better! If the person did not fulfill all of their obligations stated in their vows then they would have to pay a set amount of money. What great motivation to stay in love. OK so it is not practical to think that for every bad thing that happens one can be made whole, but it is an interesting idea.

Waiting

Patience is said to be a virtue...sadly it is one that I do not possess. I really cannot stand to wait for anything. I will even eat a cake that is not fully cooked because the smell of it baking is too much for me to handle.
Well, here I am forced to wait. I have not seen my dad in over a year. He told me a week ago that he was coming to visit and tonight his plane is supposed to come in...as if waiting for this day and time were not hard enough, his flight is delayed! I know that I must wait because, well, what other choice do I have? But why does waiting have to be SO hard?

Don't judge a book...

I received a dictionary for my 11th birthday. Not just any dictionary but "Webster's New Encyclopedia of Encyclopedias." I was disappointed and speechless. What do you say when you open a gift like that? Really, who gives a dictionary as a present anyway? I wanted to return it but my mom would not let me; she assured me that it was an expensive gift (which made me want to return it more) and that it was rude to return gifts. About a week later, while cleaning my room, I found the book hidden under my bed and began to look through it. The more I read it, the more I loved it! I was reading a dictionary and I loved it (yeah, I am a dork). I loved learning new words, how to spell them and how to properly use them in a sentence. I felt sophisticated with my ability to use large words that nobody knew and very smart when I had to explain the definition. Now, 14 years later, I still use this book. I have become a sort of human dictionary/thesaurus as well. I have learned not only to never judge a book by it's cover but also don't judge too quickly, because your worst gift may turn out to be your prized possesion.
